Description

A presentation of the topic of concussion geared toward the primary care optometrist. We will review the clinical picture of concussion and the significant effect on the visual system. The focus will be on the optometric examination sequence and the role the optometrist plays in the decision for the concussion patient to return to their previous level of activity.

Dr. Valerie M. Kattouf is a 1995 graduate of Illinois College of Optometry. Upon graduation Dr. Kattouf completed a residency in Pediatrics and Binocular Vision at the State University of New York. Dr. Kattouf is currently chief of the Pediatrics and Binocular Vision Service at the Illinois Eye Institute. Dr. Kattouf’s career focus is teaching courses in the areas of Strabismus and Amblyopia and Infant and Toddler Vision Care. Dr. Kattouf is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and the College of Optometrists in Visual Development. In 2002 Dr. Kattouf was named the Illinois Optometric Associations Young Optometrist of the Year.
