Description

Now more than ever, childbirth educators play a critical role in advocating for improved maternal and childbirth outcomes. Presenters explore Lamaze International’s role in state and federal advocacy efforts, efforts to incorporate childbirth education into maternal health policy, and strategies childbirth educators can use to advocate for themselves and for the profession.

Define federal landscape of maternal health funding with a focus on home visitation programs funded with federal dollars & the Title V needs assessments

Molly Giammarco, MPP & Jill Wodnick, LCCE

Molly Giammarco has worked with professional healthcare associations for almost 10 years and previously worked in the U.S. Senate for five years. She received her undergraduate degree from Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts and her master’s degree in public policy from the George Washington University in Washington, D.C. As Lamaze International’s Senior Manager for Policy & Government Relations, Molly monitors legislation, regulations related to maternal and child health, helps with stakeholder outreach, as well as advises the Lamaze Advocacy + Collaboration Committee.


Jill Wodnick, M.A., LCCE, is a national speaker, facilitator of Lamaze prenatal workshops for expectant parents at Montclair State University, and Chair of the Lamaze Advocacy + Collaboration Committee. Jill continues to be invited to give testimony on maternal health to New Jersey Senate hearings and committee meetings and to write op/eds for regional media outlets on maternal health, weaving in the critical role of respectful, family-centered maternity care.
