Description

This session deals with the presentation and management of the patient with deteriorating urine output.

Objectives

By the end of this session you will be able to:
● List normal parameters for physiological measurements/vital signs in an adult
● Identify when changes in physiological measurements/vital signs suggest imminent or actual acute illness
● Assess a patient’s fluid balance
● Identify the most common causes of oliguria or anuria
● Identify the first line management of hypotension from intravascular volume depletion and the time frame for restoration of normal urine output
● Recognise when to escalate a failed treatment response to a senior colleague"
