This session looks at the definition and causes of non exposure hypothermia in older people, how to treat it and how to prevent it.

Claire trained as an undergraduate in Newcastle upon Tyne before coming to London and completing a SHO rotation at the North Middlesex Hospital and the training as a Specialist Registrar in Geriatrics and General (Internal) Medicine in North East London. She worked at North Middlesex University Hospital, Newham University Hospital, Barts and the London NHS Trust, Homerton University Foundation Hospital and Oldchurch/Queens Hospitals (part of Barking, Havering and Redbridge NHS Trust). Claire has a particular interest in the assessment of Older People in the A&E department/Medical Assessment Unit and admissions avoidance/intermediate care and works closely with the community and hospital admissions avoidance teams.
