Objectives

By the end of this session you will be able to:
• Assess the severity of burns
• Organise burns by classification and recognise those that need to be referred to secondary care
• Give first aid to a burns victim
• Recognise which dressings are commonly used for burns
• Develop plans for the follow-up of patients with serious burns

Tammy Lo Doctor, Queen Elizabeth Hospital
on behalf of Health Education England

Dr Tammy Lo is a surgical house officer at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Woolwich. She undertook her undergraduate medical training at Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’ School of Medicine in 2003 and completed a BSc in Maternal and Foetal physiology.

Her research work has led to national presentations and publications. Dr Lo is focused on developing a career in surgery. In addition to developing clinical experience, she is actively involved in clinical research and audit.
