Description

This is a case-based learning session on managing minor head injuries in general practice. This session was reviewed by Matthew Castleden and last updated on 24/04/13.

Objectives

• Assess head injuries in the pre-hospital setting
• Recognise red flag symptoms for referral to secondary care
• Manage post-concussion syndrome

Alastair Moss Core Medical Trainee, Peninsula Deanery

Alastair is a core medical trainee in the Peninsula Deanery. He studied medicine at Christ’s College, Cambridge and King’s College London School of Medicine graduating in 2008. He completed his BA thesis at Cambridge in developmental neurobiology and has published research in spinal cord injury whilst working at Vancouver General Hospital, Canada. As a postgraduate Alastair has worked in the South East, London and the South West.

He is completing training in general internal medicine at Derriford Hospital, Plymouth.

His current interests include human factors research in patient safety and practising medicine in remote environments.
