Description

This course covers basic imaging physics, image formation, advantages and disadvantages of image acquisition and basic imaging techniques of X-ray, CT, Ultrasound and MRI modalities.

Objectives

Provide a fundamental understanding of the physics of medical imaging in relation to X-rays, Ultrasound, Computed Tomography, and Magnetic Resonance Imaging
On completion of this course, the learner will be able to provide a fundamental understanding of the physics of medical imaging in relation to X-rays, Ultrasound, Computed Tomography, and Magnetic Resonance Imaging
Develop a general understanding of radiation dosing
On completion of this course, the learner will be able to develop a general understanding of radiation dosing
Develop an understanding of how the physics applies to creation of images

Dr Drew McMenamin MBBS FRANZCR

Dr McMenamin graduated from the University of Queensland in 1999, before completing his radiology training at the Princess Alexandra Hospital, Brisbane, Australia. After being awarded the Uhr Clarke Bursary by the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists in 2006, Dr McMenamin undertook further training in MRI at the Gold Coast Hospital before completing US fellowships in Musculoskeletal and Sports Imaging at the University of Washington, and Breast Imaging and Breast MRI at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. Dr McMenamin is a Senior Lecturer with the University of Queensland.
