Description

Dexmedetomidine is a relatively new drug to the UK having been launched in October 2011 with marketing authorization for sedation of adult intensive care unit (ICU) patients only. Despite this,
its unique pharmacological profile has led to its unlicensed use in a number of areas of anaesthetic and critical care practice where evidence for its efficacy is mounting
