Description

This session will cover the imaging appearances of liver cirrhosis and non-alcoholic steato-hepatitis (NASH). The causes, significance and complications of these conditions will also be discussed.

Objectives

By the end of this session you will be able to:
• Define NASH and list three main causes
• List the clinical significance of NASH
• List the imaging appearances of NASH on ultrasound (US), computed tomography (CT) and amgnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
• Define the spectrum of diffuse fatty liver diseases
• Define cirrhosis and list five causes
• List six complications of cirrhosis
• List the typical appearances of cirrhosis on US, CT, and MRI
• Define the role of US, CT and MRI in imaging cirrhotic livers

Conor Corr MB BCh FRCSI FRCR
Fellow in Abdominal Radiology -
Conor is a fellow in Abdominal Radiology at Bristol Royal Infirmary. He did his pregraduate training in Queen's University, Belfast and Specialist Registrar training in Radiology in South West (Northern) scheme (Bristol). Conor has recently been appointed as a Consultant in Abdominal imaging and intervention in Wrexham Maelor Hospital.

Mark Callaway MRCP FRCR
Consultant in Hepatobiliary and Interventional Radiology -
Mark commenced medical training at the University of Southampton, before undertaking medical training on a SHO rotation in Plymouth. He started radiological training on the training scheme in Manchester before transferring to the Bristol training rotation. Mark was a lecturer in radiology at the University of Bristol before starting his current post as Consultant in Hepatobiliary and Interventional Radiology at the Bristol Royal Infirmary.
