Description

This session describes how to assess a patient with suspected sepsis and recognize the differential diagnoses in suspected sepsis both on admission to hospital and in hospital.

Mark Carpenter and Mike McAlindon

Mark Carpenter is a consultant in intensive care and anaesthesia at the City Hospitals Sunderland NHS Trust, and an Honorary Clinical lecturer at Newcastle University.

He qualified from Edinburgh University Medical school and trained in medicine, anaesthesia and intensive care in the Midlands, North East and New Zealand.

His special interests lie in teaching the recognition and resuscitation of the critically ill and the use of Bundles to improve patient outcomes.
