Description

This session describes the anatomy of the oral cavity, pharynx and larynx. The nerve supply to the larynx and the implications of damage to these nerves is also described.

Objectives

By the end of this session you will be able to:

• Describe the anatomy of the larynx
• Identify the nerve supply of the larynx and the implications of nerve damage

Michelle Leemans is a Clinical Research Fellow at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery. She has a special interest in neuroanaesthesia and airway management.

Katherine Cheesman is a Specialist Registrar at Imperial College School of Anaesthesia.

Ian Calder is a Consultant Anaesthetist at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery and Royal Free Hospital. He has a special interest in airway management and neuroanaesthesia.
