Description

This session covers the treatment of nausea and vomiting in a pathophysiological context, referenced to the mechanism of action of the drugs, and the causes of nausea and vomiting.

Objectives

By the end of this session you will be able to:
• Discuss the mode of action of the different groups of antiemetics
• Describe the characteristics of antiemetic drugs including their pharmacokinetic properties, side-effects and contraindications
• Determine the appropriate antiemetic for a given clinical scenario
