Description

This session introduces the kinetic theory of gases which describes the behaviours of gases at a molecular or microscopic level. This behaviour is then used to describe the macroscopic properties of gases.

Objectives

By the end of this session you will be able to:
• List the assumptions of the kinetic theory of gases
• Use the kinetic theory to describe the macroscopic properties of gases, such as pressure and temperature

Elke Kothmann -
Consultant Anaesthetist, James Cook University Hospital
Elke Kothmann qualified from the University of Cape Town. She has an interest in Research and Education, and has completed a certificate of Medical Education. She won the Magill medal for the final FRCA examination.


Kaye Cantlay -
Consultant in Anaesthesia and Critical Care, Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle-upon-Tyne
Kaye Cantlay qualified from Cambridge University and the University of Edinburgh. She trained in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine predominantly in the Northern region. She has an interest in teaching and training.
