Alison Swain
on behalf of Health Education England

Having graduated from Birmingham University in 1986 I trained as a GP and have worked in inner city Birmingham since. I have always had a particular interest in contraception and sexual health and in 2002 was appointed senior doctor at Brook in Birmingham, a part time post that I am able to do alongside my GP work. Training is an important part of my role including practical training for the Diploma of the Faculty of Family Planning, IUD and Implanon training, facilitating the contraception unit of the Postgraduate Award in Sexual Health (Warwick University) and facilitating Birmingham’s SHIP (Sexual Health in Practice) programme. I am passionate about training in sexual health and therefore am delighted to be able to be involved in the development of the RCGPs e-Learning programme.
