Description

This session describes a clinical situation in which a patient presents with diffuse hair loss. Throughout this scenario you will be presented with the patient's history, whilst having the opportunity to ask further questions and examine images of the patient. Expert feedback will be given throughout on your history, investigations, diagnosis and management plan.

Objectives

By the end of this session you will be able to:
• List different causes of diffuse hair loss in women
• Request appropriate investigations for diffuse hair loss in women
• Describe treatment options for diffuse hair loss in women

Matthew Harries -

Dr Matthew Harries, MB ChB PhD MRCP(UK), graduated from the University of Leeds. During dermatology specialist training he took time out of programme to undertake a PhD at the University of Manchester investigating the immunopathogenesis of cicatricial (scarring) alopecias. He now works as a Consultant Dermatologist at Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust in Manchester and is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Manchester. Dr Harries has a special interest in hair loss disorders.


Tee Wei Siah -

Dr Tee Wei Siah, BSc (Med Sci) MBChB MRCP (Dermatology), graduated from the University of Glasgow. She is now working as a Specialist Registrar in Dermatology in Newcastle upon Tyne.

Dr Siah has an interest in Medical Dermatology and hair disorders.
