John Bland
on behalf of Health Education England

Dr Bland has been involved in the whole range of Family Planning in a mining practice and clinics for nearly 50 years. During that time, he has fought for an adequate and free service via: a voluntary organisation, a county council and the NHS. For 40 years, he has worked in a specialised ’IUCD’ clinic and been involved with the UK Family Planning and Sexual Health Network in pre-marketing studies of what became the Mirena, as well as various copper IUDs that are used today - and many that never saw the light of day.

Dr Bland runs training courses for local doctors in the West Midlands region and on occasion, also delivers lectures for the West Midlands Family Planning Doctors’ association.
