Description

This session will help you to assess, diagnose and manage women presenting with common abnormal vulvovaginal symptoms.

Objectives

By the end of this session you will be able to:
• List the common causes of vaginal discharge
• Describe the treatments for the common causes of vaginal discharge
• Identify the possible causes of intermenstrual and postcoital bleeding
• Identify and assess the common causes of vulval itch and soreness
• Recognise vulval pathology which requires specialist referral

Jane is the Community Specialist for Contraception and Sexual Health in Greenwich.

She also runs a community gynaecology service which specialises in dealing with adolescent gynaecology and the menopause.

She is the Vice Chair of the Faculty’s Clinical Standards Committee, the Deanery Advisor for South East Thames and is the Convenor of the EMQ Paper of the MFSRH Exam. She has lectured frequently at FSRH meetings about contraception and sexual health and was on the Guideline Group which developed the updated Joint FSRH and BASHH 2012 Guidance for the Management of Vaginal Discharge in Non-Genitourinary Medicine Settings
