Description

Along with pattern recognition, the hypothetico-deductive method is the most prevalent mode of decision making in emergency care (Xu et al.2012).

Objectives

By the end of this session you will be able to:
• Identify the key steps for hypothetico-deductive clinical reasoning
• Explain how hypothetico-deductive decision making can be applied in practice

Kerry is a Paramedic by profession and has worked as a paramedic science lecturer, programme manager and associate head of department for Allied Health Professions at the University of the West of England. Kerry has also worked as Learning and Development Manager for South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust. Now Kerry works as Principal Adult Health Practitioner for Cornwall Council.

In his spare time Kerry sits on the Education Advisory Committee for the College of Paramedics and gave up his role as Chair of the National Forum for Higher Education in Paramedic Science to concentrate on this project.
