This session will identify the factors that determine which burns are non-survivable and describe how to deliver appropriate palliative care for patients with such injuries.

John Gibson -
FY2 Doctor
John completed his medical training at Cardiff University, graduating in 2013. He is currently a FY2 doctor in The Welsh Centre for Burns & Plastic Surgery, Swansea.
Following a 55% burn as a child, John has developed an interest in Burns Surgery. He has completed a one month fellowship in The Shriners Hospital for Children, Galveston and a one month fellowship with charity, Interburns, in Indore India. He wishes to pursue a career in Burns.


Sarah Hemington-Gorse -
Consultant in Plastic and Burn Surgery
Sarah is a consultant in plastic and burn surgery at Morriston Hospital, Swansea.
Her specialist interests include burns and skin cancer.
