Description

This session aims to give an overview of the aetiology of abdominal masses and consider how they might present. It will provide a structured approach to diagnosis and a general strategy towards management of these patients.

Objectives

By the end of this session you will be able to:
• Consider the common and important differentials for patients presenting with abdominal masses
• Develop a knowledge of the differential diagnosis of generalised abdominal swelling
• Differentiate between the likely causes of discrete abdominal masses
• Identify a safe management approach to patients presenting with abdominal mass

Polly Estridge
SpR in Vascular Surgery, Plymouth, Devon

Polly is currently an SpR in Vascular surgery at Derriford Hospital in Plymouth, Devon. She graduated in 2011 from Peninsula College of Medicine and Dentistry and completed her early years training at Ninewells Hospital, Dundee.

Polly went on to complete Core Surgical Training at Derriford Hospital and is continuing her training in the South West Peninsula region. She has spent a year as a Teaching Fellow in General Surgery as well as designing and implementing a teaching programme for foundation doctors in the Upper GI Surgery department.
