Imperial College London/Wellcome Trust Clinical (PhD) research fellow, Imperial Centre for Translational and Experimental Medicine, Division of Surgery and Cancer, Imperial College London, U.K

Mr. Patten is a Specialty Registrar in General Surgery with subspecialty interest in oncoplastic breast surgery. He is conducting higher surgical training within the London Deanery and at present, has taken out of programme time to undertake a doctorate in breast cancer research.

Mr. Patten completed his undergraduate medical training at Imperial College London (2008) in conjunction with Charing Cross, Hammersmith, St Mary’s, Chelsea Westminster and other teaching hospitals within North-West London. Mr. Patten then conducted basic surgical training with the London Deanery School of Surgery in 2010 after having obtained an Academic Clinical Fellowship award in General Surgery from the National Institute for Health Research.
In 2013, Mr. Patten obtained an award from the Wellcome Trust to undertake a clinical PhD at Imperial College London (Hammersmith). where he is currently studying and investigating the epigenetics of primary and metastatic breast cancer.
