Description

This session outlines the initial care of a patient with major burns including the assessment, classification and management of burn wounds. Late complications and rehabilitation of patients with burn injuries are also reviewed.

Objectives

By the end of this session you will be able to:
• Assess, describe and classify burn injuries
• Demonstrate the initial management of a patient with major burns
• Describe the conservative and surgical options for managing acute burn injuries
• Identify late complications and rehabilitation needs following burn injury
