Description

The aim of this session is to understand the anatomy of the lung lobule and its components and to recognise anatomically what constitutes an interlobular septum. We will explore conditions that cause septal thickening and learn how to use other clinical and radiological information to formulate a differential diagnosis.

Objectives

By the end of this session you will be able to:
• Describe the lobular anatomy of the lung
• Identify what constitutes a septal line anatomically
• Recognise septal thickening on a chest radiograph or chest x-ray (CXR)
• Recognise other radiological signs on the film
• Use clinical and radiological data to formulate a differential diagnosis
• Suggest further tests to make a definitive diagnosis
