Description

This session looks at the potential clinical and radiological complications of radiotherapy in the thorax.

Objectives

By the end of this session you will be able to:
Describe the radiotherapy techniques used in the treatment of common thoracic malignancies
List the factors that contribute to the development of complications associated with radiotherapy to the thorax
Describe the typical imaging features of radiotherapy complications in the thorax caused by radiotherapy

Anu Balan is a Consultant Radiologist with a specialist interest in cardiac and thoracic imaging. She did her cardiothoracic imaging fellowship at Chelsea and Westminster and Royal Brompton hospitals, and worked as a Consultant for 5 years at Cambridge University Hospital before taking up her current position at St Bartholomew’s and Royal London hospitals.

Anu has co-authored book chapters and several peer reviewed articles within her specialty, and has been an invited speaker at Royal College of Radiology meetings.

Anu Balan is an author and assistant editor for Module 1b Thoracic-Respiratory on the R-ITI project.

Bobby Bhartia
