Description

This session covers imaging of surgical bypass grafts and prophylactic interventions to prevent occlusion. Details of thrombolysis will be covered in another session.

Objectives

By the end of this session you will be able to:
Recall the methods of imaging surgical bypass grafts in the lower limbs
Describe the possible interventions to prevent occlusion
Recognise the indications for recanalising occluded grafts
List the surgical alternatives

Sam Chakraverty
Consultant Radiologist and Module Editor of 1c Vascular and Interventional Radiology module

Sam Chakraverty is a Consultant Interventional Radiologist at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee. After training in Radiology in Newcastle, he spent 5 years as a Consultant at Bradford Royal Infirmary before moving to Scotland in 2000. Since 2002, he has been Clinical Leader for the East of Scotland Vascular Network covering Tayside and Fife Health Boards, a position which he hopes to relinquish in the near future despite being currently able to tell vascular surgeons what to do. Interests include haemodialysis access, sailing, skiing and hillwalking, but not in that order. Sam has been Module Editor of the 1c Vascular and Interventional Radiology module of R-ITI since July 2009.
