This session reviews the indications, complications and technique of colonic stenting.

Objectives

• Describe the indications for radiologically-guided colonic stenting and balloon dilatation
• List the complications for radiologically-guided colonic stenting and balloon dilatation
• Describe the techniques used and the different types of equipment available for colonic stenting and balloon dilatation

Andrew Leonard, Brent Drake, Bruce Fox

Andrew Leonard -
Specialist Registrar Radiology, Peninsular Deanery
At the time of writing this session, Andrew Leonard was a final year radiology registrar on the Peninsula training rotation. His specialist interests were gastro-intestinal and abdominal imaging.

Brent Drake -
Brent Drake is a fifth year Radiology SpR on the Peninsula rotation. He is sub specialising in Oncological imaging and Radionuclide Radiology.

Bruce Fox -
Bruce Fox is Head of Training in Plymouth and has been heavily involved in the Peninsula R-ITI Academy project both locally and nationally since its inception. He has an interest in medical education and has coordinated the development of the radiology curriculum for the Peninsula Medical School, where he is also Clinical Fellow. He was module editor for Module 3 Gastro-Intestinal in the Radiology Integrated Training Initiative (R-ITI) e-learning project for 4 years, and then an assistant editor to the project.
