Description

This session describes the normal anatomy of the craniocervical junction (CCJ), the different mechanisms and patterns of injury and the roles of plain x-ray, computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in imaging of upper cervical spine.

Objectives

By the end of this session you will be able to:
• Describe the normal anatomy of the CCJ
• Define the roles of plain x-ray, CT and MRI in imaging of the upper cervical spine
• Explain and describe injuries of the CCJ and associated injuries

Consultant Musculoskeletal Radiologist

Ramy Mansour is a Consultant Musculoskeletal Radiologist working at Oxford University Hospitals, Oxford. His main interests are MSK MRI, Ultrasound and image-guided intervention and musculoskeletal radiology education.

Previously, he was based at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff and undertook basic medical and radiology training at Alexandria University Hospitals, Egypt. Dr Mansour also completed a Fellowship in Musculoskeletal radiology at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, Oxford.
