Description

The purpose of this session is to enable you to identify the injuries likely to be encountered in a patient after a fall on the outstretched hand.

Objectives

• Explain the common patterns of wrist injury
• Interpret radiographs to identify wrist fractures
• Identify the different types of fracture that occur at the wrist

Nigel Raby

Nigel Raby is a specialist musculoskeletal (MSK) and trauma radiologist at the Western Infirmary, Glasgow. He is Director of Imaging and Anatomy, and Honorary Associate Clinical Professor at the University of Glasgow. He is Module Editor for Module 2 Musculoskeletal and Trauma of the Radiology Integrated Training Initiative (R-ITI).

Nigel is the co-author of ’A&E Radiology: A Survival Guide’, and has organised training courses in A&E radiology for over 20 years. He teaches and lectures extensively on MSK radiology and trauma and trains radiologists, A&E officers and radiographers. His special interests include trauma, magnetic resonance imaging of the knee, and bone and soft tissue sarcomas.
