Description

This session presents a brief outline of systemic pathologies associated with weight loss as a prime manifestation, and the best imaging strategies to deal with each broad group.

Objectives

By the end of this session you will be able to:
• Develop an imaging strategy for dealing with weight loss
• Identify further appropriate diagnostic strategies if initial investigation is negative
• Describe in detail the main imaging modalities and their limitations
• Present good communication skills to interact with clinical colleagues to guide them when presented with weight loss as a primary presentation of disease
• Adjust imaging strategies given variables of patient condition, age and availability of equipment
• Assess the value of appropriate and relevant clinical information to guide imaging
