Description

This session will provide a practical approach to the technique used to perform barium meal, and normal anatomic findings.

Objectives

By the end of this session you will be able to:
• Choose and perform the correct contrast technique to perform a contrast examination of the upper gastro-intestinal (GI) tract
• Describe the normal anatomical appearances of the upper GI tract on contrast examinations

Bruce Fox -
Head of Training at Plymouth Trust

Bruce Fox is Head of Training in Plymouth and has been heavily involved in the Peninsula R-ITI Academy project both locally and nationally since its inception. He has an interest in medical education and has coordinated the development of the radiology curriculum for the Peninsula Medical School, where he is also Clinical Fellow. He was module editor for Module 3 Gastro-Intestinal in the Radiology Integrated Training Initiative (R-ITI) e-learning project for 4 years, and then an assistant editor to the project.

Specialist Registrar in Radiology

Petra is based at Derriford Hospital, Plymouth.
