Description

This session covers colorectal cancer, including risk factors, presentation, radiological investigation, management, staging, treatment and follow-up.

Objectives

By the end of this session you will be able to:
• Recognise some of the epidemiology of colorectal cancer
• Recognise the presenting features of colorectal cancer
• Describe how colorectal cancer is diagnosed and staged
• Demonstrate basic treatment principles
• Identify appropriate imaging for diagnosis and follow-up

Consultant Radiologist

Julian Elford obtained Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) prior to training in radiology at the Peninsula Radiology Training Scheme. He has been Consultant Radiologist for over 5 years at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital, Winchester and his interests are gastro-intestinal and interventional radiology.

Julian has a particular interest in teaching radiology to radiology registrars and others.

He welcomes the use of e-Learning as a new tool for the education of future radiologists and was an author for the Radiology Integrated Training Initiative (R-ITI) project in 2006.
