Description

This session covers the general radiological principles for the imaging of the solid viscera and discusses the various methods used to overcome common problems associated with abdominal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

Objectives

By the end of this session you will be able to:
• Identify the MRI techniques and sequences of the liver, pancreas and spleen
• List the post-processing techniques used
• Describe the MRI contrast agents available
• Identify the most common pitfalls in abdominal MRI

Consultant Radiologist

Rajesh Arumugam qualified from Madras Medical College in India and completed radiology training at University Hospitals of Leicester, UK. He completed his fellowship training in abdominal imaging from Indiana University Medical Center, Indianapolis and UCSF Medical Center, San Francisco, USA. He is a Consultant Radiologist at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust specialising in abdominal and oncological imaging. He is a keen teacher an currently the college tutor at Leicester General Hospital and the clinical lead for undergraduate education at the Leicester University Medical School.
