This session describes the appearances of mammographic microcalcification, its differential diagnosis and its clinical and pathological significance.

• List the common causes of mammographic microcalcification
• Recognise and differentiate microcalcifications that are typically benign from those which are either indeterminate in nature or those typical of malignancy

Nisha Sharma is a consultant breast radiologist and has been director of breast screening for Leeds/Wakefield since 2008. She is also the clinical specialty lead for breast and has been involved in the organisation of breast lectures and training for radiology registrars.

Nisha Sharma is a Module Editor for Module 4a Breast on the Radiology Integrated Training Initiative (R-ITI) project.
