Description

Masses in the kidney are one of the most commonly found abnormalities on routine cross-sectional imaging. The nature of the vast majority is obvious on initial findings but a small minority are of indeterminate appearance. This session describes how an indeterminate renal mass can be evaluated by radiological imaging.

Objectives

By the end of this session you will be able to:
• Recognise an indeterminate renal mass
• Describe a radiological algorithm for the evaluation of an indeterminate renal mass
• Define the diagnostic characteristics of the various common solid and cystic benign and malignant renal masses

Trained in Radiology at the Middlesex and University College Hospitals in London. Uday has been Consultant Radiologist at St Georges Hospital and Medical School since December 1995, specialising in Uro-radiology and Interventional Radiology. Uday has also been Module Editor of the 4c Genito-Urinary module of R-ITI.
