Description

This session will cover the spectrum of diseases of the cerebral venous system and will include venous sinus thrombosis (VST) and its complications, dural venous anomalies and transverse sinus stenosis.

Objectives

By the end of this session you will be able to:
• Recall the anatomy of the cerebral venous system
• Describe the imaging modalites used for imaging the venous system
• List the causes and symptoms of cerebral VST
• Recognise the common appearances of cerebral VST on different imaging modalities
• Describe and recognise imaging appearances of the sequelae of VST
• Describe how cerebral venous thrombosis is treated
• Recognise imaging appearances of a dural venous anomaly and understand its clinical relevance
• Recognise imaging appearances of transverse sinus stenosis and describe its association with idiopathic intracranial hypertension
