This session looks at the concept of probability banding in assessing the likelihood of pulmonary embolus (PE) from a ventilation–perfusion (V/Q) scan.

Objectives

By the end of this session you will be able to:
• Explain why we use probability banding in V/Q reporting
• Describe the implications of each of the four probability bands
• Outline a systematic approach to reporting using probability bands
