Description

This session will cover the definition and aetiology of epilepsy and the anaesthetic implications of a patient with epilepsy.

Objectives

By the end of this session you will be able to:
• Define and classify epilepsy
• Describe the clinical implications applicable to anaesthetizing an epileptic patient
• Design an anaesthetic, with the appropriate anaesthetic agents for an epileptic patient
• Manage and give advice to a patient who suffers a fit in the peri-operative period
