Description

This session will highlight the importance of early recognition of a patient suffering with malignant hyperthermia (MH). The signs and symptoms of MH will be explained as well as the appropriate treatment. The session will then discuss the post-operative follow up of at risk patients and describe appropriate techniques available for future anaesthetics.

Objectives

By the end of this session you will be able to:
• Describe the pathophysiology of malignant hyperthermia
• Discuss the triggers and associations of MH
• Diagnose and outline the treatment of a patient suffering with MH
• Discuss the post-operative follow up
