This session will help you to identify the different types of nerve cells and their function.

Objectives

By the end of this session you will be able to:
• List the function of different types of nerve cells
• Explain how chemical changes, which occur in the cell, lead to an electrical impulse
• Explain how the electrical impulse is transferred to other nerve cells and organs to induce a physiological response
• Identify different nerve cells and their structure

Audiologist

Kathryn Lewis started a career in Audiology in 1979 and has worked in the North West in Oldham, Tameside and Crewe from student to Audiology Service Manager. Kathryn has been involved in teaching and training in Audiology for 18 years on the BAA course and further training and has been an Honorary Tutor on the BSc Audiology at Manchester University since 2005. Kathryn has contributed to the Foundation degree in Audiology at Aston University.

Kathryn is now Lead for Adult Hearing Aid Audiology at University Hospital South Manchester based at Withington Community Hospital.
