Description

The aim of this session is to provide a basic overview of the anatomy and physiology of the nose, throat and sinuses, understand their relevance to audiology practice, and how some diseases can impact on this.

Objectives

By the end of this session you will be able to:
• Show a basic understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the nose, throat and sinuses
• Describe the relevance of the nose, throat and sinuses in everyday audiology practice
• List the most common conditions affecting the nose, throat and sinuses, as well as the relative treatments

Consultant in paediatric audiological medicine, Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust

Jane Lyons is a consultant in paediatric audiological medicine, working in Bury and Rochdale, and leads the newborn hearing screening programme for Bury, Rochdale and Oldham. As well as her medical degree, Jane Lyons has an MSc in audiological medicine and has 20 years’ experience in this field.
