Description

This session considers the sonographic appearance of the adult premenopausal uterus. It will include an overview of normal appearances and common pathology, and discuss common pitfalls to avoid. Tips on reporting will be offered.

Objectives

By the end of this session you will be able to:
• Identify normal anatomy of the uterus
• Outline the normal variants of the uterus
• Recognise common symptoms related to pathology of the uterus
• Review the ultrasound appearances of common pathologies
• Describe the limitations and pitfalls of ultrasound imaging of the uterus
• Compare your report writing style with our suggested style

Vivien Gibbs

Senior Lecturer, University of the West of England, Bristol

Vivien is a practising sonographer with over 30 years experience. She has worked in a number of different departments performing a wide range of sonographic examinations. She later moved into an academic role running postgraduate ultrasound programmes, but has always retained her clinical skills by continuing to practise as a sonographer. She is currently Head of Department for Allied Health Professions at the University for the West of England.

Vivien is an accreditor for the Consortium for the Accreditation of Sonographic Education and a Fitness to Practise panel member for the Health and Care Professions Council.
