This session considers the role of ultrasound in the assessment and treatment of infertility. It reviews common pathology and imaging techniques, including the role of contrast and 3D ultrasound. Diagnostic pitfalls and reporting will be discussed.


By the end of this session you will be able to:
• Describe the equipment required for fertility scanning
• Identify additional requirements when assessing these women, and consider common variants
• Review the ultrasound appearance of common pathologies associated with infertility

Advanced Practitioner Sonographer Weston-super-Mare General Hospital

Angela has worked as a sonographer in a number of London teaching hospitals for over 20 years. This included a seven year teaching post at Guys Hospital, specialising in infertility ultrasound. She has always been active in teaching and has lectured at Kings College London and the University of West England.

Angela has a particular interest in hystersalpingo-contrast (HyCoSy), saline infusion sonography (SIS) and 3D gynaecological imaging and is an organiser and lecturer for a regular course in these scanning techniques. Currently she works as an advanced practitioner sonographer at Weston-super-Mare General Hospital.
