Description

This session covers ultrasound evaluation of the pancreas. It discusses the anatomy, normal variants, technique and normal ultrasound appearance of the pancreas. It also offers some tips on reporting.

Objectives

By the end of this session you will be able to:
• Identify normal anatomy of the pancreas on ultrasound
• Describe the normal ultrasound appearance of the pancreas
• Use techniques to improve ultrasound image quality when scanning the pancreas

Zahir Amin and Doug Pendsé

Zahir Amin MBBS MRCP MD FRCR -
Consultant Radiologist, University College Hospital, London

Zahir completed his Radiology training at The Middlesex Hospital between 1990-96. He was awarded an MD thesis from the University of London in Liver Tumour Ablation. He then worked as a Consultant Radiologist at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital between 1996-2002. Since 2002, he has been a Consultant Radiologist at the University College Hospital, London. His main interests are hepatobiliary and pancreatic imaging and intervention. Also, general abdominal/GI imaging.


Doug Pendsé -
Doug is a Clinical Lecturer in Radiology at the Centre for Medical Imaging, UCL. He qualified from Birmingham Medical School in 2001 and holds both MRCS and FRCR. He is currently the holder of a NIHR Clinical Lecturer award and is involved in clinical trials of functional MR imaging in oncology.

Previously Doug was an Academic Clinical Fellow at UCL/UCLH and completed a MD on minimally invasive treatments in prostate cancer.

His clinical radiology interests are gastrointestinal and genitourinary imaging.
