Description

This session will provide a brief overview of the adult orthotopic liver transplant. Common complications of liver transplant will be discussed. Advice on how to avoid common pitfalls and tips on reporting will be offered.

Objectives

By the end of this session you will be able to:
• Identify the anatomy of a normal orthotopic transplanted liver
• Recognise some of the more common postoperative complications
• Recognise the difference between common postoperative appearances which are not clinically significant, and those which require further action/monitoring
• Compare your reporting style with our suggested style

Jane Smith

Jane Smith (retired) was a consultant sonographer with the Leeds and West Yorkshire Radiology Academy and practised ultrasound for many years. Her specialist interest was gastrointestinal ultrasound, including interventional and microbubble applications.

She taught and lectured regularly throughout the UK and had numerous publications including two books in ultrasound, which continue to be popular texts.

She is a previous president of the British Medical Ultrasound Society (BMUS) and honorary member of the Royal College of Radiologists and of BMUS.
