This session will describe common fractures, dislocations, pathologies and normal variants found in the wrist joint. These will be illustrated using radiographic examples.


By the end of this session you will be able to:
• Assess radiographs of the wrist joint using a systematic approach
• Identify and accurately describe common fractures
• Recognise common pathologies found in the wrist joint, describe them accurately and know when to ask for a specialist (radiologist) opinion
• Describe normal variants which may be mistaken for a fracture or pathology

Senior Radiographer

Claire qualified from Cranfield University in 2000. For the last 10 years she has worked in Bristol dividing her time between the Bristol Royal Infirmary and the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children where she has specialised in paediatrics.

Claire has completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Image Interpretation and is an active member of a reporting radiographer team. She is committed to education and has run a national study day on Paediatric Trauma Image Interpretation as well as guest lecturing at the University of the West of England.
