Description

This session will describe the principles of nuclear medicine bone scanning. It will explain the use of planar, SPECT and SPECT-CT images and give an overview of their clinical applications.

Objectives

By the end of this session you will be able to:
• State a range of indications for bone scanning
• Outline the imaging procedure
• Describe normal image appearances and explain how normal and abnormal results can affect patient management

Consultant Nuclear Medicine Physician at Guys and St. Thomas NHS Foundation Trust, KCL School of Medicine

Dr Gnanasegaran qualified at the Mysore Medical College (India). He joined the Royal Free Hospital, London as a Clinical Research Fellow and completed his MSc (Kings College, London University) and MD (University College London-London University) in Nuclear Medicine. He is currently based at Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. His special interests are in Nuclear Cardiology & Nuclear Oncology.
