This session illustrates the radiological and biochemical features of metabolic bone disease including osteoporosis, rickets, osteomalacia and hyperparathyroidism.


By the end of this session you will be able to:
• Describe the radiological features of:
- Osteoporosis
- Osteomalacia
- Rickets
- Hyperparathyroidism
- Renal osteodystrophy
• Describe the associated changes in bone biochemistry in all of these metabolic bone disorders

Elizabeth Dick is a Consultant Radiologist and Honorary Senior Lecturer at Imperial College NHS Trust.

Her subspeciality interests include Musculoskeletal and Trauma Imaging as well as Body MRI.

She teaches at undergraduate and postgraduate level and is currently an examiner for the FRCR Part 1 (Anatomy).
