Description

This session covers the role of radiology in the diagnosis and management of acute osteomyelitis.

Objectives

By the end of this session you will be able to:
• List the ways that the pathogenesis of acute osteomyelitis relates to radiological findings
• Diagnose acute osteomyelitis on all imaging modalities in adults and children
• List the most common locations of acute osteomyelitis in all age groups
• Define the differential diagnosis in equivocal cases

Stephen Davies (Radiology) -
Consultant Radiologist at Royal Glamorgan Hospital

Stephen Davies qualified in 1981 (MA MB BChir, Cambridge), and completed his radiology training in London, becoming Member of the Royal College of Radiologists (MRCR) in 1984 and Fellow (FRCR) in 1989. Musculoskeletal radiology and picture archiving and communication systems are his special interests. He is Clinical Director, College Tutor and now RCR Regional Advisor for Wales. His interests in medical education have led to his current study: Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education. He is Editor of the journal Radiology Update.
