Description

This session looks at a systematic approach to magnetic resonance imaging of the knee. The session also discusses osseus; and, ligamentous and tendinous lesions.

Objectives

By the end of this session you will be able to:
• Describe a systematic approach to image interpretation of the knee using magnetic resonance imaging
• Describe the appearance of osseous, ligamentous and tendinous lesions on magnetic resonance imaging

MRI Clinical Lead and Unit Manager University Hospital of North Tees

Graeme qualified as a diagnostic radiographer in 1988. After roles in general radiology and neuroradiology he specialised in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and has been clinical lead and unit manager for the last 12 years. A significant proportion of his time is spent on reporting general MRI examinations including the knee.

Graeme works collaboratively with the referring musculoskeletal and spinal teams and is committed to service development to improve clinical management and imaging pathways.

An avid supporter of training and its development, Graeme is currently working collaboratively to provide MRI specific training tools for both experienced and inexperienced MRI radiographers as well as assisting in the development of practical assessment frameworks to reflect MRI radiographer competencies.

Graeme enjoys teaching and presenting and regularly assists referring healthcare professionals with lectures on specific aspects of MRI image interpretation, as well as undertaking the role of specialist visiting lecturer at Teesside University for several years.
