Description

This session will look at anatomy of the thorax with particular reference to the paediatric population. It concentrates on the nerves, oesophagus, lymphatics and muscles of the chest. It also discusses key differences between the adult and paediatric chest, and common normal variants.

Objectives

By the end of this session you will be able to:
• Identify the anatomy of the paediatric chest on diagrams and radiographs
• Describe the key differences between the adult and paediatric chest
• Describe common normal variants found in the paediatric population

Anna is a senior radiology SpR with an interest in cardiothoracic imaging and is currently training in the North East. She undertook undergraduate medical training at Edinburgh University and it was in this region that she spent her early years as a junior doctor.

Prior to commencing radiology, she completed her medical SHO rotation and MRCP and moved to Newcastle during her radiology training.
